STA-BIL NATIONAL LAWN MOWER RACING SERIES RETURNS TO AVON PARK, FLORIDA APRIL 4-5
The Sunshine State will again be on the cutting edge of American motorsports as the U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association (USLMRA) presents the first races of the 2009 STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series, April 4-5 in Avon Park, Florida.
Turf Titans will converge on Central Florida as the Florida Lawnracing Association (FLA) presents the STA-BIL 12 Minutes of Avon Park, at the Avon Park Mower Plex, 2155 Herrick Rd, Avon Park, FL. Spectator admission is $5.00 for adults, with children under 12 free. . Racing starts at 7:00 PM April 4 and 1:00 PM April 5.
Event sponsors include Gulf Breeze Landscaping, D&B Mowersports and Cobra Excavating.
The USLMRA sanctions and presents organized lawn mower racing across America including the 18-race STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series and a network of 42 Local Chapters and Affiliated Clubs hosting more than 140 sanctioned races nationwide. The FLA is one of the original USLMRA Local Chapters, chartered in 2002.
Races feature riding lawn mowers with cutting blades removed at speeds up to 60 mph. Lawn mowers race in four road course classes with all cutting blades removed: Stock (8 mph), IMOW (20 mph), Prepared (50 mph) and Factory Experimental (60 mph). USLMRA lawn mower racing is featured on the FOX Sports Net and the Outdoor Channel.
Races take place in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida,Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
