What is the “World’s Fastest Lawn Mower?” Is it the Dixie Chopper Jet Mower, with a 150 horsepower Chinook military jet engine made famous in the 1993 episode of Home Improvement? Or is it the 104+ Octane Boost mower built by Gold Eagle’s Engine Answerman Bobby Cleveland that set the World Land Speed Record For A Lawn Mower of 96.529 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2010? Or are they both the world’s fastest?

Race fans will get the chance to see both mowers at the 20th Anniversary STA-BIL Keeps Gas Fresh Finals National Lawn Mower Racing Championships, Sept. 1-2 at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in Delaware, Ohio, presented by the United States Lawn Mower Racing Association (USLMRA), the nation’s oldest and largest national lawn mower sanctioning body. Both mowers will also be on display the week preceding the event at the USLMRA National Lawn Mower Racing Hall of Fame and Museum at Miller Lawn & Power Equipment in Marion, Ohio.

The Dixie Chopper Jet Mower, built in 1991 by Dixie Chopper founder Art Evans, was the Official Pace Mower of the first STA-BIL Nationals Championships 1992-1995 and has toured the country for 20 years as the “World’s Fastest Lawn Mower,” able to mow a football field in 14.2 minutes. Made famous by Tim Allen and Bob Vila in a 1993 episode of the TV sitcom Home Improvement, the Dixie Chopper Jet Mower has helped the Coatesville, Indiana-based company become one of America’s leading lawn mower manufacturers.

Cleveland’s 104+ Octane Boost mower is a custom-built Snapper that first set the World Land Speed Record on a lawn mower at the Bonneville Salt Flats at 81.792 mph in 2006 and reclaimed the record with a 96.529 mph run in 2010. The mower is currently crisscrossing country as part of Gold Eagle’s Engine Answerman national tour.

“They are both the World’s Fastest Lawn Mower,” said USLMRA Founder & President Bruce Kaufman, “Mr. Mow It All”. “Since 1980, Dixie Chopper has produced the world’s fastest lawn mower for cutting grass. Since 1992, the USLMRA has sanctioned the world’s fastest racing mowers, including the Bonneville Slat Flats mower. One mower cuts grass and the other just goes fast!”

“We are thrilled to be a part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Championships, said Dixie Chopper Marketing Manager Mark Meyers. “Anytime lawnmowers and speed are put together, it’s only natural for Dixie Chopper to be there!”

The Dixie Chopper Jet Mower will be on display at the USLMRA National Lawn Mower Racing Hall of Fame and Museum at Miller Lawn & Power Equipment, 1299 Harding Highway East State Road 309, Marion, Ohio, Wednesday and Thursday, August 29-30 and will then join Gold Eagle’s Salt Flats Mower for display Friday, August 31 – Sunday, September 2 at the Delaware County Fairgrounds, 236 Pennsylvania Ave., Delaware, OH.
