RACING LAWN MOWERS READY TO ROCK & MOW
AT MACON CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL

Glenview, IL (March 19, 2009) – In a sure sign of spring, racers from the U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association (USLMRA) will appear Saturday, March 21 2:00-4:00pm at the Macon Cherry Blossom Festival as sod warriors mow em down at Third Street Park, from Cherry to Poplar Streets in downtown Macon. The event is free and open to the public and is presented by Cox High Speed Internet.

Some of America’s fastest racing lawn mowers will show off including Turf Titans from the Georgia-based Dixie Lawn Mower Racing Association, the East Tennessee Lawn Mower Racing Association and the Alabama-based Dixie Outlaws.

“What better way to celebrate springtime in Macon to run lawn mowers through the city streets at speeds up to 40 mph!,” exclaimed Michael Formentini, President of the Dixie Lawn Mower Racing Association. “We’ve got top drivers coming in from across the South including several national Top 10 Racers from the STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series along with regional and state champions. This event has proven to be a huge success. C’mon out and watch – the MOW the merrier!”

The U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association (USLMRA) sanctions and presents organized lawn mower racing across America including the 18-race STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series and a network of 45 Local Chapters and Affiliated Clubs hosting more than 140 sanctioned races nationwide. Races feature riding lawn mowers with cutting blades removed at speeds up to 60 mph. Lawn mowers race in four road course classes with all cutting blades removed: Stock (8 mph), IMOW (20 mph), Prepared (50 mph) and Factory Experimental (60 mph). USLMRA lawn mower racing is featured on the Discovery Channel, Fox Sports Net and Outdoor Channel.
