President Bob Reinisch of the Calvary Chapel of Idaho Falls Lawnmower Racing Club sent over this note to update us on the racing going on in Idaho this Spring:

2011 was a very busy year for us at Calvary Chapel of Idaho Falls. We established a USLMRA racing association and constructed a 950 foot dirt track behind the church called Calvary Raceway.

Calvary Chapel of Idaho Falls Lawnmower Racing Club held two races in August and September. Turn out was about 300 people at each race with over two dozen entrants in the stock and CP prepared classes. Competition was fierce with Pastor Rick Brown winning both races in the prepared class.

For the 2012 season we have scheduled four races on the last Saturday of each month in June, July, August and September with participation in the 4th of July Parade and static displays at two different car shows, one at the local trade tech college. We have been holding a build clinic each 2nd Saturday of the month. We have about 24 people show up for each build clinic and there are at least 6 new mowers under construction along with one we are building for our pastor.

Lawnmower racing is starting to catch on in Idaho Falls and we hope that 2012 will be bigger and better than ever.
