Opening Weekend of the 25th Anniversary of the USLMRA saw the triumphant return of the
STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series to the Florida State Fair in Tampa.

Held under a covered pavilion at the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center at the Florida State Fairgrounds, race fans were treated to great racing while STA-BIL Series racers from Florida, North Carolina, New Jersey, Mowhio, Maryland and as far away as Iowa ran a fast, smooth track built by our old mow buddy Jim Coones, Director of the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center.

Complete weekend race results can be found here.

Three of Tampa’s TV networks came out to cover the races, as did the Tampa Bay Times. Race Announcer Doc Kuhfeldt kept the crowd entertained, all weekend.

Racing under the covered pavilion allowed us to race in the rain, and on Sunday, a beautiful, sunny day more than 2,000 filled the stands.

“It was a great weekend in every respect,” said USLMRA Kerry Evans. “We raced at the Florida State Fair in 2011 and 2012, and our friends Jim Coones was able to bring us back at a terrific location. Smooth, wide track under a covered pavilion with a great spectator crowd. You can’t ask for mow than that!”
