The STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series mowed into the rolling hills of Northwest Illinois, as 82 machines took to the track at the Apple River MOWtor Speedway in Apple River, Illinois for two days of late summer racing.

Racers from Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Oklahoma, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin were treated to a great venue hosted by the Apple River MOWtor Speedway crew and the Illinois Lawn Mower Racing Association.

This weekend was truly a midwestern gathering, with several Local Chapters and Affiliated Clubs including the American Heartland Lawn Mower Racers, Illinois Lawn Mower Racing Association, East Kansas Lawn Mower Racers, OK Mower Racers, Mowhio Lawn Mower Racers, Michigan Lawn Mower Racing Association and the Indiana Lawn Mower Racing Association.

Jeff Surell, “Egor” was awarded a special Spirit and Spark Award for his mowtivaiton and overcoming his physical disabilities. A tribute to recently departing Legend of the Lawn George Herrin, written by Lawn Mower Racing Hall of Famer, Chuck Miller was read at the Saturday Driver’s Meeting.
