The USLMRA STA-BIL National Lawn Mower Racing Series made a triumphant return to the legendary Charlotte Motor Speedway April 5-6, 2014 for two days of USLMRA racing excitement at this legendary facility. And what a great weekend it was!

The festivities started off on Media Day, Tuesday, April Fuel’s Day, USLMRA’s 22nd birthday, with a Monster Mower Jump over 22 cars by the STA-BIL® Engine Answerman™, Bobby Cleveland. The Jump was perfect, and no cars were wrecked.

Racers Pete Sullivan, Mark Ledford, his buddy Vernon and Rex Crouch, Sr. were on site with their mowers so the media could get a taste of the racing action. USLMRA Vice President Kerry Evans was on site to oversee the activities and help organize the events.

Auto Fair Presented by OldRide.com kicked off on Thursday, April 3, as auto fans and car buffs streamed into the Speedway to visit the hundreds of vendors set up on the Charlotte track and in the infield.

Friday night we held an awesome Racer Party and BBQ hosted by Rocket Man Racing and the Sullivan family with support from our friends at STA-BIL Fuel Stabilizer. Racers and families were treated to Sonny’s BBQ and a wide assortment of deserts. It was great to see many old friends on hand

Saturday was Day 1 of the weekend races, and I compliment our racers and families on their cooperation in handling the complex logistics required of us to be part of this event. We had ample room in the pits, surrounded by thousands of Auto Fair attendees

CMS track officials, led by veteran corner worker and event manager Ed Fausel welcomed us back to “The Greatest Place To See The Race, and we handed the microphone off to our friend Doc Kuhfeldt and we were off and mowing!

Racing was clean, fast and fun, with the only glitch in the day being a tumble by Dawn Filos. The good news was Dawn was fine, and able to race on Sunday.

Results from Saturday, April 5, can be found here.

Sunday broke cold and windy, but dry as we too to the track for a quicker day which saw us race 25 lap features with no heats, in order to stay on schedule.

Results from Sunday, April 6 can be found here.

Special thanks to our friends at Charlotte Motor Speedway, especially Shaun Johnson, Megan Johnson and Megan Renninger for your hospitality, professionalism and MOWtivation. Racing at this legendary facility is truly awesome!

See you next time!
